Convert 2D Polyline to 3D Polyline

See here for documentation

Use this function to convert selected circles and 2D polylines with arcs (source objects) into a series of straight lines (more break points) and drawn as a 3D polyline. The line segments of the source objects will be unaltered (no additional break points).

Run the function from:

  • MOUS_ICO Toolbar: Not available from the Toolbar
  • MOUS_ICO Menu: Novapoint > Tools > Convert 2D Polyline to 3D Polyline
  • KEYB_ICO Command Line: Not available from the command line

Command prompts for:

Select 2D Polyline: Pick all the objects and confirm the selection.

The dialog Convert Arc to Straight Lines will pop up.

Accuracy Setting

Use this option to define the accuracy of the curvature of the 3D polyline with arcs/circles of the source objects.

For small values, the converted 3D polyline follows the curvature of the source objects very well. This means that it will be having more straight lines and break points. Refer to the preview of the dialog for illustration and define a numeric value (meter) at AC Distance <.

Elevation Setting

Use these options to define the elevation of the converted 3D polyline:

  • Use Original Elevation - The elevation of the converted 3D polylines will be the same as that of the source objects.
  • Use Current System Elevation - The elevation setting (CAD command Elevation) of the drawing will be read and assigned to the converted 3D polylines.
  • Set Elevation to - Key in the desired elevation (in meters) at this edit field to define the elevation of the converted 3D polyline.
  • Use Elevation from DTM - The elevation in the terrain model defines the elevation of the converted 3D polyline. You can also include a terrain break point.

Set properties from Original Object

Use this option to inherit the CAD properties of the source object to the converted 3D polyline.

Note:

2D objects are being converted to a 3D polyline, which means that the line type is not fully displayed.

Delete Original 2D Polyline

Use this option to delete the source objects.
