With the fifth Viewpoint Field View™ release of 2023, we’re releasing highly-anticipated user-requested functionality for navigating the geometry tree with your keyboard. We also adding a variety of options for streamlining reports. We started to move features from Classic Field View to the New Web in readiness for the end of Classic Field View, and we shifted our customer support focus to iOS 14 and Android 7.1 or higher.
The R6 release for iOS will be delayed for one week due to a security update.
Installation Updates
In order to continue getting new versions of Field View, users must now have iOS 14 or Android 7.1 or higher. Though updates have previously been available for mobile users on older versions of iOS and Android, this will no longer be allowed.
You will still be able to use Field View on older devices, but you won’t get any updates to the software.
Device Password Update, for iOS App Users
The R6 release includes a secure device password update. When trying to sync, you may be required to log in. Once each project has been updated on the device, this won't be required again.
If there are any problems, your Field View admin may need to provide a new device password.
Process Form Status Change
With this release, when you change the status of a process form when on the web version of Field View, Field View will ask if you also want to change the status of the parent process task. This will save you time and effort when closing forms, as you can close the task when closing the form.
Anytime you change the status of the form to Complete or Closed, you will receive a prompt to change the task to the corresponding status. This will also work for multiple process forms or bulk form status changes and the associated tasks for the forms.
Field View will also ask if you want to update if it detects the workflows for the forms and tasks are different. On bulk process form, Field View will use additional prompts to detect if there are different workflows associated with the task and the parent process tasks.
Disable Groups
If you have logical groups set in your form and these groups aren’t needed for the report, you can disable the groups when printing the report. You can also disable the groups when downloading the forms in bulk.
In a future release, this option will be enabled by default.
Geometry Assignments in Processes
We created new panels when assigning geometry to a project process. You can select multiple processes and assign them the same locations at the same time.
Filters and Forms
New filters have been added to the Process Performance report, the Planned Start/Finish report, the Tasks report, and the Forms report to help you easily find the relevant information and create more succinct reports.
In addition, a Delete command has been added to the menu on a form’s or task’s row.
Classic Field View End of Life
We’ll be spending time moving features that appear in Classic Field View into New Field View in preparation for ending use of Classic Field View.
The next feature to move will be removing task reports. This is currently scheduled for 2023 R8.
Other Improvements
Our development team is working hard to improve the way you use Field View. Look at these new updates:
Select a location by clicking inside its calibrated area
When you have a project or organization logo, it will be displayed when you open a bulk export
You’ll see a new HTML file in the bulk export zip file that will help you navigate the content
Use the up and down arrows on your keyboard to navigate the geometry tree
Android uses will have an easier time adding pictures to a task that already has many pictures
Android users will see a moveable pin when creating a new task or form
You’ll now see cross hairs when dropping a new calibration point
