Trimble ID Logins for Vista Web FAQ

Learn about the upcoming changes to Vista Web logins, where Trimble ID will be required for all users in Vista Web cloud-hosted environments. These changes have begun to go into effect as of January 2026.

For video answers to common questions, watch this webinar, Vista Web: Your Q&A and Training Session for the Trimble ID Update.

What is changing?

We're moving to an improved login experience! Starting in January 2026, we will begin enforcing Trimble ID as the only way to log in to Vista Web.

We will roll out this change in scheduled waves. After Trimble ID is enabled for your organization, you'll have a dedicated window to transition all user accounts. After this period, Trimble ID will be mandatory.

The move to Trimble ID is designed to provide a more secure and streamlined login experience for all users. Look for additional communications with more details about what to expect as well as the timing of the transition.

Who is impacted by this change?

All Trimble Construction One Vista Web cloud customers on version 2025 R10 or higher will be required to sign in to Vista Web using Trimble ID logins. On-premises customers are not impacted, however, as these legacy customers transition to the cloud, we want you to be aware of these requirements.

When is this happening?

We will begin updating customer environments in scheduled waves starting in January 2026. Watch for additional communications in the coming months about your organization's specific transition timeline.

What actions do admins need to take?

Admins should begin transitioning employees to Trimble ID logins today. If you haven't already, start setting up Trimble ID logins for your users. To accommodate different user needs, Vista Web offers two types of Trimble ID users:
Vista Web Native Trimble ID Users
  • User has an affiliated email address
  • User needs access to Vista Web Office Tools
  • User needs to access Vista and Vista Web portal
  • User has a Vista VA User Profile
Vista Web Managed Trimble ID Users
  • User does not have an affiliated email address
  • User does not have a Vista VA User Profile
  • User’s employment status may change frequently

We will provide additional guidance to assist with this process as we begin transitioning the first wave of customers.

How will I know when my Vista Web environment is scheduled to have Trimble ID logins enforced?

In addition to the announcement email sent to all customers, admins in your organization will receive an email notifying you of your transition date in advance.

What is Trimble ID?

Trimble ID is a unified login system that enhances security and access to your Trimble ID Construction One services, introducing a single sign-on process for users. To accommodate different user needs, Trimble ID for Vista Web offers two types of users: Vista Web Native Trimble ID Users and Vista Web Managed Trimble ID Users.

Is this required? / Can I opt out?

Trimble ID logins will be required for all Trimble Construction One Vista Web cloud customers. You cannot opt out, however, you can request to be moved to a later wave with a later transition date.

What is the difference between Trimble ID and Viewpoint ID Logins?

Trimble ID is the current unified login system that enhances security and access to your Trimble Construction One services, introducing a single sign-on process for users.

Viewpoint ID is the legacy SSO login method.
Note: Australian customers will continue to use Viewpoint ID at this time.

How can I tell if I'm already using Trimble ID?

To verify if your personal portal profile is linked to your Trimble ID account, see Identify Username and Trimble ID Status.

Additionally, there are several indicators in the portal that your organization already has Trimble ID enabled:
  • On the portal login page, the SSO option says Sign In with Trimble ID.
  • Any reference of Viewpoint ID or VPID in the user interface now says Trimble ID or TID.

How can I tell which authentication type my employees use?

A report is available for administrators that categorizes all Native TID, Managed TID, and Non-TID Users within your company. To access it, go to Admin > User Access then select Export TID Status Report.

Will Named Login accounts still work?

Yes. Even with Trimble ID logins required, named logins will continue to work.

Will users still be able to log in with their Employee Number and Password?

Once Trimble ID logins are enforced, users will not be able to log in using their Employee Number and Password, Windows login (LDAP), or SAML-based SSO. You should start transitioning users now to develop your transition plan and identify any issues early on.

To provide a similar login experience to the Employee Number and Password option while also satisfying the Trimble ID login requirement, Vista Web now offers Trimble ID managed users. You can transition your users to managed Trimble ID users today to be prepared for the enforcement of Trimble ID-only logins.

What is the difference between Native and Managed Trimble ID Users?

A Native Trimble ID User has an affiliated email address. Their credentials are managed through Trimble ID. A Managed Trimble ID User does not have an affiliated email address. Their credentials are managed in the portal. Your company can have a mix of both user types.

For the purpose of this new Trimble ID enforcement, both user types are valid upgrade options. If your company currently has employees who previously logged in with their Employee # or do not have an affiliated email address, consider making them Managed Trimble ID Users.

For more information, see Trimble ID Logins for Vista Web.

Will users be able to clock in through Kiosk Mode with Trimble ID?

Yes, all Trimble ID users can clock in and out through Kiosk Mode using their Kiosk password.

  • Users who previously clocked in using an employee number can continue to do so, even as Trimble ID users.
  • New Trimble ID users who never had an employee number login can create a Kiosk password to use for clocking in to the portal. See the following articles for details:

How do I promote a managed Trimble ID user to a postion where they need to use Vista?

When a managed Trimble ID user has been promoted to a role that requires access to products that don't support managed users, you must change them to a native Trimble ID user. Follow these steps.

  1. In User Access, unlink the employee from the Managed User profile.
  2. Have the user create a new Trimble ID account (or manage via your Identity Server if federated).

The user can now log in using their new native Trimble ID user credentials.

How do I manage termed employees?

Depending on your company setup, there are several possible scenarios for how termed users must be handled.

If a termed employee requires access the Earnings and Personal Info modules, they either need their account linked to their Personal Email, or they need to be set up as a managed Trimble ID user.

If a termed employee already has a their account linked to their Personal Email or already has a managed Trimble ID account, they can continue to log in with their managed username.

If a termed employee does not require access to the Earnings and Personal Info modules, nothing changes.

Can I turn off Employee Number logins for my organization?

Yes! Disabling Sign in with Employee # is a great way to start transitioning your users to Trimble ID logins before the official enforcement date. Wait to turn off other login types until you have all of your users converted to Trimble ID logins. To verify, go to User Access to see if users have a check mark in the TID Linked column. Once you are sure everyone is on Trimble ID, go to Admin > Portal Settings > Security / Login > Windows Authentication Login > Log in mode and select TID/VPID SSO Only from the dropdown.

For more details, see step 1b of Configure Trimble ID Native User Logins.

Can I transition my organization early?

Yes! If your users are already set up with Trimble ID logins and you would like to transition your organization to Trimble ID required logins in one of the earlier waves, contact us at vistaweb-tid-questions-ug@trimble.com.

Can I set up MFA with Trimble ID logins?

Yes.

Look for additional features related to MFA in upcoming releases.

How do I resolve "Multiple employees found" errors during the Trimble ID migration process?

This error occurs when the same email address is associated with multiple employee records across different Payroll Companies, including inactive or legacy companies.

To resolve this, ensure the email address is unique across the entire system. You must explicitly verify and remove duplicate emails from the Payroll Employee Master (PREH) records, even for termed employees in companies you no longer actively use.
