Task File Maintenance

The Task File Maintenance screen can be used to set up a simple method of determining the billing amount when fixed price is specified as the billing method on work orders.

Tasks are predefined work assignments and are comprised of a group of labor, material, and other cost items. Examples of tasks include the installation of a dishwasher or the replacement of a specific filter. An unlimited number of task groups can be specified on any given work order. Furthermore, flat rate tasks can serve as a single line item on a work order, or can be used as a template to drop pre-defined material and other cost detail onto a work order. This provides a convenient means of speedy entry, or could even serve as a method of simplification for quotation purposes.

This screen also allows simplified set up of tasks by simply recording a description and full price, without any detail. It could also be used to define overhead and profit.

Each task can have up to four levels of subtasks, which allows you to make changes that will filter up to the main task. Click the Add or Edit buttons to assign or change each task's subtask(s), if applicable. Task notes entered directly in Work Order Entry and those from Proposed Work Order Entry and the Service Contracts module are stored in a Notepad notes topics for Task Notes. These notes appear on the Crystal-Link Work Order Print along with other work order-related text.

Note: If you also use the Service Contracts module, you must enter the task / system combination in Service Contracts > Data Entry > Schedule Contract Visits before assigning tasks and subtasks to work orders.
