Pre-Installation Considerations
Prior to installing, review the following considerations regarding third-party applications.
VMware functionality
Trimble Viewpoint thoroughly tests Viewpoint Estimating in the hardware environments described in the following sections. There are no known issues with the use of Viewpoint Estimating in a VMware environment complying with the published requirements.
If you have specific VMware-related issues, contact your hardware/technology support vendor.
Thin client recommended with your VPN
Trimble Viewpoint recommends that you manage remote access to Viewpoint Estimating using a “thin client” solution, such as CITRIX, Terminal Services, or Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) with your virtual private network (VPN).
Using VPN access without a thin client solution is not supported.
If you plan to use Terminal Services, the server must meet the minimum processor, memory, and disk space requirements indicated. In addition, an extra 4 GB of RAM and 2 GB of disk space are required per user.
Protective software with known issues
- Constant Guard Protection Suite
- AVG antivirus products
Retired Third-party Products
If a product is not listed in the hardware and software requirements, it is because the application developer (Microsoft, Adobe, and so on) has retired the product and ended extended support.
Although your Viewpoint Estimating system may still function with such applications, in some cases, support will be unable to assist if you encounter an issue known to be related to an expired product.
