Configure SMTP Email Settings

Configure Vista to send emails through an SMTP email relay. SMTP settings are located on the VA Site Settings form.

Important: Before you configure SMTP settings, first Set Up Your Email Service.

You must verify that your SMTP relay works by using the PowerShell testing script included in the article linked above. If your relay does not work, do not replace the currently operational TurboSMTP setup with your new configuration, as you cannot change it back. Viewpoint Customer Support will not be able to change it back either.

You no longer need access to the Viewpoint Configuration Server to configure SMTP settings.

  1. In Vista, go to Viewpoint Administration > Programs > VA Site Settings > Add'l Settings tab.
  2. Enter values in the following SMTP System Settings fields:
  3. Enter values in the following SMTP Authentication fields:
    • DomainOnly needed if your SMTP service requires authentication and the service is within an NT domain
    • Username
    • Password
  4. Enter values in the following Send Email fields:

For all field descriptions listed in one place, see Field Definitions: VA Site Settings Form.

After you configure the SMTP settings, you should test your Vista email functionality to make sure it is configured correctly. See Test Your Vista SMTP Email Configuration for details.
