Markup Tools

The tools in the Markup section work only on text; the tools do not work on scanned image text. All tools can be used on PDF files, however, only the stamp can be used on .bmp, .jpg, .png, and .tif files.

Highlight Text

Follow these steps to highlight text in a file.

  1. In the Markup section, select Highlight.
  2. Left-click and hold the mouse button down at the location in the text and click to start highlighting the text.
  3. Release the mouse button when you are finished marking the text.

Underline Text

Follow these steps to underline text in a file.

  1. In the Markup section, select Underline.
  2. Left-click and hold the mouse button down at the location in the text and click to start underlining text.
  3. Release the mouse button when you are finished marking the text.

Add Strikethru to Text

Follow these steps to add strikethru to text in a file.

  1. In the Markup section, select Strikethru.
  2. Left-click and hold the mouse button down at the location in the text and click to start striking through the text.
  3. Release the mouse button when you are finished marking the text.

Change the Color of a Highlight, Underline, or Strikethru

Follow these steps to change the color of a highlight, underline, or strikethru.

  1. Select Edit.
  2. Highlight the markup you want to change the color of.
  3. Right-click and select Properties.

    The Annotation Options window displays.

  4. Change the markup's properties as follows:
    • For highlight, you can change the color and opacity.
    • For underline and strikethrough, you can change color, thickness, and opacity.

Delete Highlighted, Underlined, or Strikethru Text

Follow these steps to delete a highlight, underline, or strikethru.

  1. Select Edit.
  2. Highlight the markup to delete.
  3. Delete as follows:
    • Right-click and select Delete.
    • Press Delete on the keyboard.

Add a Stamp

Follow these steps to add a stamp to an image.

The Rubber Stamp option allows you to add a "stamp" to the current drawing. There are several available. You can also choose to type in your own custom stamp text. The stamp shape and colors cannot be changed. The custom stamp text and background color are green.

Follow these steps for each stamp you want to add.

  1. In the Markup section, select Rubber Stamp to activate it.
    Rubber Stamp must be highlighted for the tool to be active.
  2. Select your stamp text. Use the drop-down arrow to select the text you want to use or to select Custom Text and enter your own. If you are using Custom Text, enter the text you want shown on your stamp in the Custom Text field.
  3. Select the location of your stamp. Select the location of the document or drawing where you want to place the stamp.

Resize a Stamp

Follow these steps to resize a stamp.

  1. Select Edit.
    A box displays around the stamp with anchors in each corner and middle of the shape.
  2. Grab one of the stamp's outline anchors and drag it in the direction you need to shrink or enlarge the shape.

Move a Stamp

Follow these steps to move a stamp.

  1. Select Edit.
    A box displays around the stamp with anchors in each corner and middle of the shape.
  2. Place the mouse inside the stamp (not on an anchor) and drag it to the required location.

Delete a Stamp

Follow these steps to delete a stamp.

  1. Select Edit.
  2. Select the stamp so the outline shows.
  3. Delete as using one of the following options:
    • Right-click and select Delete.
    • Press Delete on the keyboard.
