Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) is an interface that can be used to access database management systems. To access Jobpac Connect using ODBC, you will need a VPN connection. To get started, please submit a request to your account manager. The account manager will validate the request, assess and advise the setup and recurring fees that are required for use of a VPN, and work with the infrastructure provider to set up the VPN connection for you.
About Using ODBC Connections for Jobpac Connect
Using ODBC connections creates enhanced security and performance risks. Trimble has no liability or obligation with respect to ODBC connections that you create. You are solely responsible for setting up and managing your ODBC connections. We recommend that you enlist the help of a network or security expert.
- We strongly recommend turning off ODBC updates as incorrect updates might lead to inconsistencies in the underlying data. It is best practice to use APIs where available for updates. Trimble has no responsibility for providing support or assistance for loss or corruption of data not caused by Trimble.
- We urge you to exercise caution while directly accessing the Jobpac Connect database via ODBC as it contains sensitive data. Accessing the database directly could bypass application-level security (for example, payroll data could be visible regardless of the assigned permissions of the user logged in).
- If you perform database operations that are not sufficiently optimized, it could adversely impact the performance of Jobpac Connect. As a result, your Jobpac Connect users may experience degraded performance.
- As Jobpac Connect evolves, the underlying database will be updated and modified from time to time. You are solely responsible for making any necessary updates to your ODBC connections to ensure ongoing compatibility with the Jobpac Connect database.
- The quality and performance of ODBC drivers may vary significantly between different third party software vendors. This could result in inconsistent behavior and potential reliability issues.
