ProContractor Cloud (PCC) hosts your ProContractor application on a hosted server and does not require you to run the application directly on your workstation. You may encounter situations that require you to accomplish a task in a way that you are not familiar with.
The following list details some common scenarios that you may encounter when using ProContractor in a PCC environment.
Why can't I save files directly to my workstation?
When your organization has chosen to use PCC, your ProContractor application is running on the hosted server and not your workstation. This means that you cannot save directly to your workstation. For more information, see Manage Files in ProContractor Cloud.
Why can't I drag and drop files directly from my workstation into ProContractor?
When your organization chooses to use PCC, your ProContractor client is running on the hosted server and not on your workstation. This means that you cannot drag and drop directly from your workstation. However, you can access a file on your workstation from a location that is hosted in PCC and drag and drop from there. For more information, see Drag-and-Drop in ProContractor Cloud.
Why are there two versions of Microsoft Excel open in my workstation?
When your organization has chosen to use PCC, your ProContractor client is actually running on the hosted server and not your workstation. This means that ProContractor requires that a version of Microsoft Excel (or any other Microsoft Office application, as applicable) is available on the hosted server.
When I export a report from ProContractor to Excel, will Excel open on my workstation?
If you export a report in ProContractor to an Excel file, the report opens in Excel on the hosted server, and not in Excel on your workstation. This is true even if you've chosen to save the file to your local workstation.
How can I tell when I am using an application within the Cloud versus an application installed on my workstation?
When you open an application within your ProContractor Cloud environment, an icon is added to the taskbar at the bottom of your screen. The icon for a Cloud application contains two arrows, shown here.
By contrast, such arrows do not appear in the icons of your local workstation's applications.
