Authentication Policy Settings - Field Descriptions

To open the Authentication Policy Settings page in the Admin Console, select Security > Change requirements.

FieldDescription
Password LengthThe minimum number of characters required for a password. The default is 8.
Password ComplexityThe combination of required character types such as uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters.
Password ExpirationThe number of days a password remains valid before the user is prompted to create a new one. Setting this to "No expiration" allows passwords to be used indefinitely.
Password Reuse PolicyThe number of unique passwords required before a previous one can be used. A value of "5" means each user must set five different passwords before they can reuse their current password.
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)Specifies whether users are required to provide a second form of verification (such as a security code from an authenticator app or SMS) in addition to their password. For more information on supported MFA methods, see How to Secure Your Trimble ID Account.
Failed Login AttemptsThe number of times within a 15-minute period that a user can enter an incorrect password before their account is locked.
Lockout PeriodThe duration (in minutes) that a user's sign-in screen remains disabled after they've reached the failed sign-in attempt limit.
