Clipping Plane Tools

Modified: 6 Jun 2026 Trimble Connect Help

In Trimble Connect for Browser's 3D Viewer, you can use clipping plane tools to create cross-sectional Views of 3D models.

You can create clipping planes both vertically and horizontally. Once you've created the desired cross section, you can save it as a View or a ToDo and share it with team members.

  • There can be up to 8 clip planes at the same time in the view.
  • Clip planes can be placed along an object face or edge line.
  • When creating a clip plane by snapping to an edge line, the clip plane is created in the plane perpendicular to it.

Creation Toolbar

On the largest breakpoint, the main application toolbar has a dropdown menu which allows you to select the clip plane tool you want to use to make a clip plane. The Clip Plane Creation toolbar is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

On smaller breakpoints, you can change the measurement tool from the Clip Plane Creation toolbar. You can specify face or line snap preferences for clip planes.

Edit Toolbar

With the Clip Plane Editing Toolbar, you can edit clip planes. When you select a clip plane, the Editing Toolbar opens at the bottom of the screen. The Editing Toolbar allows you to flip the clip plane direction, rotate, and delete.
