Trimble Connect supports multiple 2D, 3D, point cloud, and geospatial file formats.
2D File Formats
Trimble Connect for Windows does not have an integrated 2D Viewer, but 2D files can be opened in their native applications from the Trimble Connect for Windows application.

3D File Formats
Guidelines for 3D File Formats
- The LandXML support is based on the Inframodel subset/extension. Alignments, Pipe Networks, and TIN surfaces are the main primitive types supported.
- For Revit Mobile, the file formats OBJ, FBX, 3DS, STL, 3DM, and SLDASM cannot be viewed using Trimble Connect 3D Viewer.
- The 3D Viewer does not work with Digital Project and CATIA formats because of changes in licensing agreements. Navisworks support has known limitations. In certain cases, it is possible that the Navisworks model conversion fails and the model cannot be viewed in 3D. See Naviswork model file support in Trimble Connect for more information.
- Files related to Rhinoceros applications are no longer supported. As a workaround, you can export your models from Digital Project and CATIA to IFC format and then import them to Trimble Connect.
- Revit support requires using the Connect for Revit add-on for upload.

Geospatial File Formats
- When imported in Map Viewer, the file size limit is 40 MB; beyond this limit, files are supported in the read-only mode.
- A given .zip file should have only one type of geospatial file. For example, a .zip file having files of type SHP and type VCE files is not recommended.
- Shape files may not be processed correctly if the coordinate system information in a .PRJ file cannot be matched to a known coordinate system.
