Measurement Tools

Modified: 6 Jun 2026 Trimble Connect Help

You can use the measurement tools in Trimble Connect for Windows for a variety of tasks.

You can use the measuring commands in Trimble Connect for Windows to measure distances between points in the 3D View. You can measure the distance between two points, or the shortest vertical or horizontal distance from a point, face, edge to another object, or get the X, Y, & Z for a single point.

Measurement's unit and precision is defined from the Project Settings Dialog. For more information, see Set Project Units.

At measurement creation, the set unit and precision will be used. Measurements are not updated when changing the unit settings, which means that measurement with different units and/or precision can be saved in the same view.

Exiting the Measurement Mode

Measurement mode is continuous, and will stay active even after a measurement has been placed. As long as the tool is active, the measurement button is highlighted in blue.

To exit the measurement mode:

  • Press the Esc key.
  • Select the Measurement button in the toolbar again to deactivate the tool.
