Exclude Interior Areas

Exclude a smaller area from a larger surrounding area.

  1. Open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen.
    Note: To open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen, click Estimating > Earthwork > Manage Earthwork Estimates in the All Tasks pane. Click Open Existing Job. Then select the job you want to open, and click OK.
  2. Select the Area tab, if it is not already active.
  3. In the Active Layer field on the toolbar, click to select the layer where you want to exclude an area.
  4. Click Select on the speedbar.
  5. Select the area surrounding the smaller area you want to exclude.
  6. Click Prop on the speedbar.
  7. Deselect the Include Enclosed Areas checkbox. All areas enclosed within the selected area will now be excluded from all totals.
  8. To re-include the enclosed areas in the totals, select the Include Enclosed Areas checkbox.
  9. Click OK.
    Note: You can also include or exclude areas within the Summary tab.
