Exclude Areas from a Job or Balancing

Sometimes you will need to exclude an area from either job totals or balancing. You can choose to exclude an area from the entire job totals, or you can exclude it from balancing.

Note: If you exclude the area entirely from the job, the portion of site enclosed in the area will not be calculated in any cut and fill calculations. If you exclude an area from the balancing, the elevations of the area will not change when you balance the site.
  1. Open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen.
    Note: To open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen, click Estimating > Earthwork > Manage Earthwork Estimates in the All Tasks pane. Click Open Existing Job. Then select the job you want to open, and click OK.
  2. Select the Area tab, if it is not already active.
  3. Click Select on the speedbar.
  4. Select the area you want to exclude.
  5. Click Prop on the speedbar.
  6. To exclude the area from all calculations for the job, select the Exclude area from totals checkbox.
  7. To exclude the area only from balancing, select the Exclude area from balancing checkbox.
  8. To save the changes you made, click OK.
