Switch Layers

Prior to digitizing lines and spot elevations in the Takeoff tab, you must first select the appropriate layer from the Active Layer field on the toolbar. The Active Layer field enables you to digitize elevations in the Existing layer or Proposed layer, or digitize borings in the Substrata layer. In the Area tab and the Len/EA tab, you must also select the appropriate active layer prior to digitizing an area. In the 3D tab, Section tab, and Grid tab, you must select the layer you want to view by selecting a layer from the Active Layer field. Note that switching layers has no effect on the Summary tab totals.

Open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen.

Note: To open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen, click Estimating > Earthwork > Manage Earthwork Estimates in the All Tasks pane. Click Open Existing Job. Then select the job you want to open, and click OK.
Select the tab where you want to work.
From the Active Layer field on the toolbar, click to select the layer you want to use.
