Post Change Orders with Financial Cost Items

Modified: 7 Sep 2026 Viewpoint Estimating Estimating Help

When you post a change order to the estimate you can select whether to post the financial cost items.

Financial cost items from the change order are not applied to the cost items in the estimate and financial cost items from the estimate are not applied to the cost items from the change order. This allows you to apply the same financial cost item at a different rate in your change order than your estimate. For example, you can add a financial cost item for profit to the estimate at 10% for all cost items, and add a financial cost item for profit to the change order at 25% for all cost items.

If you added financial cost items to a change order, you will need to include them when you post the change order to the estimate if you want to include that cost in the estimate. If you select not to include the financial cost items when you post the change order to the estimate, the financial cost items and the allocated amounts are not included in the estimate.

To open a job in the Manage Estimates screen, click Estimating > Estimating > Manage Estimates in the All Tasks pane. Then select the job you want to open, and click OK.
