Quantities in a Visual Assembly

Modified: 7 Sep 2026 Viewpoint Estimating Estimating Help

You can view the details and calculated quantities of a visual assembly as you create it by changing the view of the visual assembly. This enables you to view details of the visual assembly in list format to ensure that you have entered all the parts required for the visual assembly. The view displays:

  • Size quantities

  • Cost items in the assembly

  • Quantities for each cost item

  • Units for each cost item

The information in the Quantities view is updated as information is entered into the visual assembly. This information is also the same information displayed when you print the visual assembly from the visual assembly wizard.

Note: To open a visual assembly, open a job in the Manage Estimates screen (click Estimating > Estimating > Manage Estimates in the All Tasks pane, select the job you want to open, and click OK), then do one of the following:
  • From the Estimate tab, double-click on the visual assembly.

  • From the Takeoff tab, double-click on the takeoff item that represents the assembly, then double-click on the assembly name.

  • From the Catalog tab, open the Visual Assemblies folder and double-click on the assembly.
