Job Setup - Job Information popup window- Page 1

The number of pages in this popup window depends on the job type selected. The information you enter on popup window appears on many of the reports you can print for the job.

Job

Number

Enter the name or number that identifies the job. This is the name of the job within the Earthwork module.

Name

Displays the path and file name for the job file.

Address

Line 1

Enter the first line of the street address for the address.

Line 2

Enter the second line of the street address for the address, if needed.

City

Enter the city for the address.

State

Enter the state or province for the address.

Zip

Enter the ZIP code or postal code for the address.

Dates - Identifies important dates for the job.

Bid

Enter the due date for the bid associated with the job.

Start

Enter the start date for the job.

Changed

Enter the date the job was last changed.

Contact - Identifies the primary contact for the job.

Name

Enter the name of the primary contact for the job.

E-mail Address

Enter the e-mail address for the contact.

Phone

Enter the phone number for the contact.

Fax

Enter the fax number for the contact.

Job Setup

Estimator

Enter the name of the estimator for the job.

Comments

Enter any comments or notes about the job.

You must set the scale of a sheet in the sheet properties before performing takeoff. You can select a scale or use the compensate feature to determine the scale.

Note: You cannot manually compensate the scale if you don't know that length of at least one horizontal distance and one vertical distance on the drawing.

Scale

For known scales, select one of the following:

  • Architectural – Select the scale from the drop-down. This option is only available when the unit system is imperial.

  • Engineering – Select the scale from the drop-down. This option is only available when the unit system is imperial.

  • Metric – Select the scale from the drop-down. This option is only available when the unit system is metric.

  • Other – Select this option to manually set the scale of the drawing for a known scale not listed. Enter the linear footage per inch (for metric, mm per millimeter) for both the horizontal and vertical values.

For unknown scales:

  1. Select Other.
  2. Click Compensate Scale for the horizontal scale.
  3. Enter the length of the longest known horizontal distance on the drawing.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Press the tip of the stylus on one end of known distance, then press the tip on the other end.
  6. Click Compensate Scale for the vertical scale.
  7. Enter the length of the longest known vertical distance on the drawing.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Press the tip of the stylus on one end of known distance, then press the tip on the other end.

Use metric measurements

Select the checkbox to use metric measurements to set the scale of the drawing.

Minimum Elevation

Enter the minimum elevation on the job in feet. If you selected the Use metric measurements checkbox, enter the minimum elevation for the job in meters.

Maximum Elevation

Enter the maximum elevation on the job in feet. If you selected the Use metric measurements checkbox, enter the maximum elevation for the job in meters.

Use these steps to locate the drawing on the digitizer board.

CAUTION: Viewpoint strongly recommends that you don't change the location of a drawing after digitizing quantities. If you change the location of a drawing, the Earthwork module may calculate items incorrectly since the digitized items will no longer match the drawing. Therefore, you should delete all items you have digitized on a drawing before you attempt to change the location of a drawing.
  1. Position the drawing on the digitizer and secure the edges of the drawing to prevent it from slipping.
  2. Locate the physical sheet by digitizing the lower-left and upper-right corners of the drawing with your stylus pen or puck.
    Tip: With a non-metallic based writing utensil (for example, highlighter, marker, colored pencil), mark the two points on the prints you plan to use when locating the drawing. If you ever remove the sheet from the digitizer board, you can always re-digitize the same two points, which will line the data up with the location of the drawing.
  3. Click OK.
