Set the location of a drawing

Modified: 7 Sep 2026 Viewpoint Estimating Estimating Help
  1. Open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen.
  2. Position the drawing on the digitizer and secure the edges of the drawing to prevent it from moving. Mark two points on the plans with a non-metallic writing utensil where you plan to digitize the lower-left and upper-right points for drawing location. This will allow you to relocate the plans using matchlines if you remove them from the digitizer board at a later time.

The application automatically adds a reference point to each point you locate to assist in this process.

Note: Position the drawing on the digitizer as straight as possible before locating it. Do this by orienting the North/South axis of the drawing along the vertical axis of the digitizer board.
  3. Click Estimating > Earthwork > Tools > Locate Drawing in the All Tasks pane.
  4. Press the tip of the stylus on the lower left corner of the drawing. A dot appears in the drawing area of the popup window.
  5. Press the tip of the stylus on the upper right corner of the drawing. The drawing location appears as a white rectangle in the drawing area of the popup window.
  6. Click OK.
