Use the Validate Estimating Job/Catalog screen to check the data in an estimate or catalog for errors. When you validate an estimating file or a catalog file, Viewpoint Estimating runs several routines to determine the integrity of the data file. This is designed to ensure that your data files have not been damaged or corrupted, and can still be used by the Estimating module.
Viewpoint Estimating fixes data if it can. In some cases, it may prompt you for information to make corrections. For example, if you have created a change order for an estimate, but have not specified the WBS code to use for change orders, Viewpoint Estimating prompts for the WBS code to use.
You can validate an estimate or catalog at any time. You can also use the Verify feature to check data in the estimate for specific issues. See Verify the Estimate for more information. Both of these features can be useful if you suspect there are issues with your data, such as the estimate not matching the summary or if data is not allocating correctly.
To open a job in the Manage Estimates screen, click in the All Tasks pane. Then select the job you want to open, and click OK.
