Copy a Task from a Project into a Business Unit

Modified: 6 Jun 2026 Viewpoint Field View Project Management Help

You can copy a project task into the business unit to make it available to all projects in that business unit.

You would use this procedure if the task was created directly in the project, and you now want to copy it into the business unit. Tasks that were originally created in the business unit or that were one of the default business unit library tasks do not need to be copied into the business unit.
Fastpath: Project Setup > Assign > Library Tasks
  1. Confirm that the correct business unit is selected in the Business Unit field, and that the correct project is selected in the Project field.
  2. Select Project Setup > Assign > Library Tasks.
The Project Setup - Assign - Library Tasks screen appears.
  3. (Optional) To find a specific project library task or tasks, use the Search pane.
    1. Select the Project Library Tasks checkbox.
    2. Enter any additional criteria.
    3. Click Search.
  4. In the Project Library Tasks pane, select the checkbox for each task you want to copy into the Business Unit Task Library.
  5. Click the Copy Library Task to Library button .
The project task is now available to be copied to any project in the business unit.
