What's New in Field View 2024 R7

Modified: 6 Jun 2026 Viewpoint Field View Help

Business and project packages transitioned out of Classic Field View in the July release, paving the way for a more streamlined and efficient experience in the web application. You can create an organisation and invite users directly when creating packages. Depending on the role assigned, new users may not have access to the plan view. We also modified the system library in the web application to display organisations currently in use across all your projects, ensuring an environment without unneeded information and with faster data retrieval.

Please note that due to updated security protocols and Microsoft's discontinuation of support, we no longer support Field View for Windows.

Packages User Interface Changes

Business and project pages are now available from the Project Setup navigation using the Menu icon in the upper left corner of Field View in the web application. Save or add new package details, add organisations to the package, and add or invite new users, among other actions, without having to return to Classic Field View. Packages will use the new enterprise library, speeding up the process of package setup.

Updates to the System Library

Previously when you added an organisation enterprise to Field View, that organisation would be added to the system library and be visible to everyone that uses the same Viewpoint data center, not just your company. We consolidated the system library so now you see only organisations currently in use across all your projects, allowing for faster data retrieval. When you add a package, Field View will look to the consolidated library, reducing the time it takes to add the organization to the package.

Plan View Permissions

When you create a new account, you now have the ability to determine if the account will be assigned a system role that allows them to view the plan view. System roles for a new business unit will have viewing access enabled by default. Current roles will also maintain their access.

Continued Localisation Efforts

We’re continuing to translate the web application based on your browser language. Reports generated from the web application, including bulk download and form distribution, will be translated based on your browser language when the report was requested.

Nightly reports such as Communication Plan Task Reports will be translated based on the Project setting.

In addition, the Help is scheduled to be translated into Dutch, French, and German by the end of 2024.

Removal from Classic Web

We’ll be spending time moving features that appear in Classic Field View into the Field View web application in preparation for ending use of Classic Field View.

Completed work for this release includes:

  • Moving business and project packages.
  • Making a new consolidated enterprise library available only to the business that creates it instead of all companies using the same data center.

Upcoming work includes:

  • Continuing the modernisation of system libraries into consolidated enterprise libraries and make them available only in the web application. This is currently scheduled for sometime in 2024.
