Create a BIM Container and Home Page

Create a BIM container and Home page so that you can interact with IFC models, the associated COBie data in Viewpoint For Projects™.

  1. Right-click on a site, project, or container in the navigation tree and select New > BIM Container.
  2. In the Name field, enter a name for the BIM container.
  3. Optional: In the Description field, enter a description for the BIM container.
  4. In the COBie Template field, select the template that determines the format for displaying and validating the COBie data associated with your models:
    • COBie_US_2_4
    • COBie_UK_2012
    • Uniclass_2015
    The COBie_US-2_4 template is an Omniclass template that is used in North America. The remaining two templates are Uniclass, with the Uniclass_2015 template reflecting the most up-to-date standards.
  5. Click Finish.
    The BIM container is created, along with a static virtual container named Model Files. When you select the BIM container, the BIM Home page displayed.
In the security settings, administrators can grant read-only access to users who don't need the privilege to edit features such as the Information Planner or the Naming Convention.
