Vista Web Native Trimble ID Users

Modified: 14 Oct 2026 Vista Field Service

In Vista Web, you can set up users with a Trimble ID login that uses their email address as a username. This type of Trimble ID user is referred to as a native user, who typically has a company email address and whose credentials are managed through Trimble ID.

Users who previously logged in using SSO with Viewpoint ID will be native Trimble ID users.

Native Trimble ID Users

There are two types of Vista Web Trimble ID users: managed users and native users. Native Trimble ID users have have the following features:
  • Credentials: Email address, typically a company email address. Example for sample user, Charlie Day: charlie_day@trimble.com
  • Login managed by: Trimble ID
  • Typically used by: Employees with a company email address, employees who previously used SSO with Viewpoint ID

Native Trimble ID user also:

  • Needs access to Vista Web Office Tools

  • Needs to access Vista and Vista Web portal or another Trimble product

  • Have a VA User Profile in Vista but does not log into Vista

Steps to Set Up Trimble ID Native Users in Vista Web

1. Configure Trimble ID Native User Logins
  • Make sure Trimble ID is enabled for your Vista application and Vista Web portal.
  • Configure Vista Web Trimble ID portal settings.
  • Each user should have their email address on their Vista VA User Profile or PR Employee record in order to log in using native Trimble ID. The email address must be unique and cannot exist on another employee's record or in another PR company. If users do not have their email entered in Vista, they will be able to Manually Link Trimble ID to Their Portal Profile.
Note: Manual linking can be disabled with the portal setting Admin > Portal Settings > Security / Login > Trimble ID Linking > Disable Manual Link option when TID linking.

To allow users to log in automatically without a PIN prompt, enter the user's email address in any one of the following Vista record fields. The portal searches these fields in hierarchical order to locate a matching profile:

  1. Vista VA User Profile: Set the User Name field to the user's email address.
Note: The PR Company and PR Employee numbers must also be assigned on the VA User record for the portal to associate the account.
Note: If you have enabled the portal setting Ignore VA user profile emails in Logic located under Admin > Portal Settings > Email Configuration > General Configuration, the portal will not use the email address set up on the VA User Profile.
  2. Vista PR Employees (Work Email): Enter the user's email address in the Work Email field (Vista R26.3+ / Vista Web 1.26.2+).
  3. Vista PR Employees (Standard Email): Enter the user's email address in the standard Email Address field if Work Email is not configured.

User logs in with Trimble ID but displays a legacy (.yy7) username: If a native user signs into Vista Web with Trimble ID and sees their legacy Vista username (such as j.wilson1.yy7) in the upper-right corner header, their new VA user profile in Vista is missing their PR Company and PR Employee numbers. Populate these fields on the VA User record in Vista to resolve the display issue on subsequent logins.
