Set Up Superannuation

Modified: 2 Sep 2026 Vista Payroll Help
Note: Two detailed user guides are available to assist you with necessary configurations of Payday Super liabilities and contributions in advance of the 1 July 2026 cutover date. Before going live with Payday Super, ensure you run a test payroll and generate a super contribution file to confirm the output is as expected.

For additional information, see the user guides below:

(Australia only) A high-level overview of how to configure Vista to process superannuation liabilities, associate superannuation funds with fund clearing houses, and generate Super Contributions files.

Note: The SuperMin2 routine, introduced in the Payday Super feature set, supports annual subject amount limits, as well as calculation of a weekly minimum super amount, if specified in any relevant Superannuation Weekly Minimum field. This routine also supports the minimum monthly earnings threshold amount for super guarantee, although the threshold amount was set to zero (0.00) by Parliament on 1 July 2022, and remains zero currently.

The SuperMin routine is used in the legacy super process (for tax year 2026 and earlier) for calculating superannuation if you are using weekly minimum amounts. This legacy routine likewise supports the minimum monthly earnings threshold amount, currently set to zero (0.00).

To set up superannuation:

  1. In the PR Routines form, enter the current earnings threshold in the Misc Amt #1 field; that is, the minimum amount of monthly gross earnings.
Note: You must update this field every time the threshold changes. Since 1 July 2022, by law this threshold amount has been zero (0.00).
  2. In the HQ Super Funds form, set up each superannuation fund that you offer to employees. For more information, see Set Up and Maintain Superannuation Funds.
  3. For each fund that you create in the HQ Super Funds form, create one or more corresponding liability codes in the PR Deductions/Liabilities form.
  4. Associate one or more superannuation liability codes with each employee in the PR Employee Dedns/Liabs form. Make sure to enter the employee's superannuation membership number in the Membership # field.
Attention: Once you have your Payday Super liability codes set up, prepare to make the switch from legacy super to Payday Super (on or around 1 July 2026). See Make the Switch to Payday Super for Payroll Processing for more information.
  5. If necessary, set a weekly minimum superannuation amount by craft/class/template or by employee. For more information, see Set Weekly Minimums for Superannuation.
Tip: You can run the PR and AP Superannuation report to review the contributions for each employee along with their associated membership number.
  6. Set Up Superannuation Fund Clearing Houses (one or more) in Vista using the HQ Super Clearing House form.
  7. Associate Funds with a Superannuation Fund Clearing House for each PR company, using the PR Super Clearing House Fund form.
  8. Generate a Super Contribution or MVR File using the PR Super File Generate form. This is for upload to the Clearing House.
