Viewing Revit Files (BETA)

You can upload and view Revit Files using Trimble Connect for Windows.

Note:
Using Trimble Connect for Windows to upload and view Revit files is an early-access beta feature which has limited support for Revit file versions. These Revit file formats are not supported by the beta:
  • Revit 2023
  • Revit 2024
  • Revit 2025

This beta feature is not intended to replace the Trimble Connect for Revit Add-In which gives the widest support for Revit file formats, the most control over choosing which views get uploaded, and other upload settings.

For best results in uploading the latest Revit file formats, use the Trimble Connect for Revit Add-In. See Install the Revit Add-In.

View A Revit file in Trimble Connect for Windows

To view in Trimble Connect for Windows:
  1. Using the file explorer, navigate to a Revit (.RVT) file and select it.
  2. Select the View button.

Once the file has been processed it will appear in the 3D viewer.

Note: The processing result depends on the naming conventions that were used during the creation of the RVT file in the authoring application.

Once your file has finished processing, you can then upload it to the server where you can view it in the Browser application.

View a Revit file in Trimble Connect's 3D Viewer

A Revit file can have multiple views in it. To view in Trimble Connect for Browser's 3D Viewer:
  1. Open your project in Trimble Connect for Browser.
  2. Go to the Explorer page.
  3. Select a file by selecting anywhere in the row.
Note: Selecting the file name opens the file in the Viewer application automatically.
  4. To view the file, select the View button or the model thumbnail in the Details panel on the right-side.

The 3D application opens in a new tab. Once the file processing is complete, your model is ready to view.

Troubleshooting

If the conversion is complete but you are not seeing your model, it may be due to the current zoom level setting. In the Overflow Menu, select Fit to View.
