Export a Digital Terrain Model

  1. Open the job you want to export the information from, if it is not already open.
  2. Select the Takeoff tab, if it is not already active.
  3. Click Estimating > Earthwork > Export > Digital Terrain Model in the All Tasks pane.
  4. On the DTM Export window, click Browse.
  5. On the Save As window, browse to the folder where you want to save the Digital Terrain Model file.
  6. In the File name field, enter a descriptive name for the Digital Terrain Model file.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Under Layer on the DTM Export window, select the layer you want to export.
    Note: You can only export one layer to a Digital Terrain Model file at a time.
  9. Under Area, select the area from the selected layer that you want to export to the TDS data file.

  10. In the Grid Spacing field, enter the grid spacing you want to use for the DTM file.
  11. Select either Sub Grade or Finished Grade.
  12. If you want to enter an origin other than the default, enter the appropriate world coordinates in the Northing and Easting fields. All points generated are relative to the Northing and Easting origin, which is 0 by default.
  13. If you want to rotate the drawing for the Digital Terrain Model file, enter the appropriate rotation angle in the Degrees field. The preview displays the rotation of the Digital Terrain Model.
  14. To export the selected layer and area with origin and rotation you selected, click OK.
  15. Click OK on the export confirmation message.
