Create a new job using plans in an image file

  1. Open a job in the Manage Earthwork Estimates screen.
  2. Click Create New Job.
  3. Enter a unique and descriptive name in the File name field. Viewpoint recommends that you save the job in the Jobs folder.
Note: To avoid possible loss or corruption of data within a job file, try to keep the names as short and simple as possible—using only numbers and letters—while keeping the name descriptive enough to distinguish this job from other job files.
  4. Click Save to save the job.
  5. In the Select the Job Type popup, select Plans on an Image File.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Complete the fields as described on the Job Information popup window (page 1) on the Manage Earthwork Estimates Screen Field Reference.
  8. Click Finished.
  9. To extract sheets from an image file for the job, do the following:
    1. Select the Extract Sheets tab.
    2. In the Image File field, click to select the image file.
    3. If you are importing file that contains color images, select the Import Color checkbox to import the images in color.
Note: When you digitize against a colored background, Viewpoint recommends that you turn off the Align to Image and Go tools within the speedbar.
    4. Click Extract Sheets. The application extracts any available sheets from the image file and displays them.
  10. To use already converted images for the job, do the following:
    1. Select the Open Sheet tab. The application displays all previously extracted sheets.
    2. If needed, in the Folder field, click to select the folder that contains the converted image files. The application displays all previously extracted sheets in the selected folder.
  11. Select the sheet you want to use and click OK.
