Assign Permissions to a User Role
Assign permissions to a user role. The permissions assigned to a role determine what users with this role can see and do in your portal.
-
Select Settings &
Permissions > Permissions > Employee.
The Employee Permissions page opens.
-
From the Role dropdown
field, select the role that you want to update.
The list of users with that role displays in the box below the Role field.
-
Select a permissions category on the left side of
the page. For example, Employee.
This displays the list of all permissions within the selected category, grouped for ease of navigation, in the main area of the page.
Note: The licenses assigned to a role determine the permissions template available for that role. See Create a User Role for more information. -
Review the permissions in each category, and enable the ones that apply to this
role. Each permission includes a description to explain what that permission
allows a user to see and do in your portal.
-
To search for a specific permission across all categories, use the search field on the left side of the page above the category list.
Note: This search field also filters for application settings that include your search terms. You will see your search results grouped under Settings and Permissions headers. -
To search for a specific permission within a category, use the search field in the main area of the page.
-
-
Optionally, you can use the following buttons to add or remove
permissions:
-
Copy Permissions (displays in the upper right of the page): Allows you to copy permissions from one role to another. You can copy permissions between roles as long as those roles have the same licenses assigned.
-
Add All Permissons / Remove All Permissions: Allows you to enable / remove all category permissions for the selected role (displays above all category permissions in the main area of the page).
-
Add All / Remove All: When shown within a category grouping, allows you to enable / remove all permissions in that grouping. When shown to the right of a specific permission, allows you to enable / remove all options for that permission (for example, View, Create, Edit, Delete).
