You can offset an area to enable creating a new area that is offset by a specified distance from the original areas.

When you offset an area, you can specify the distance from the original area and the elevation of the area. The offset becomes a normal area, which you can edit or delete just like any other area.

1. Open the Area Properties popup window.
2. Click on the Coordinates tab.
3. Click Offset.
4. In the Name field, enter a unique name for the offset area you are creating.
5. To set the direction of the offset, select one of the following:
   • Out - To offset outward, which increases the area.
   • In - To offset the area inward, which decreases the area.
6. In the Offset field, enter the amount of inches or feet to offset the area.
7. In the field to the right, click to select the unit for the offset.
8. To enable the smoothing function, select the Smooth checkbox. Smoothing provides enhanced accuracy when offsetting over large distances.
9. Click OK.
