Example of Using a Crew
A crew cost item can be a line item in the estimate, or a member of a larger assembly. As an example, you could create Case 1 of the Truck Crew to grade 6,000 feet of roadway. To grade the roadway, you need 12 hours of the Truck Crew per 100 feet, and you need a 14’ Cat grader for two hours. The grader also needs an operator and a half-time grade setter, in addition to the truck crew.
First, you create the assembly based on 100 feet:

If you set the quantity of Grade Roadway to 1.0 foot, the calculated production rate of the Truck Crew is 0.12 hours. This means that the crew takes 0.12 hours per foot times $63.25 per hour, or $7.59 per foot. This also translates to 8.33 feet per hour.
