Complete the I-9 Section 2 After a New Hire is Initialized to Vista

Onboarding or Hiring Location Admins can complete Section 2 of a new hire's I-9 even if that new hire has already been initialized to Vista.

The new hire must have already submitted their section of the I-9.

You must be an Onboarding or Hiring Location Admin in order to complete the I-9 Section 2.

  1. Go to Employee Tools > Onboarding Dashboard and select the new hire's name from the Employee column.
  2. On the Onboarding Employee Details page, scroll down and select the Task Tracker section to open the dropdown.
  3. In the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification section, you should see a message that says the I-9 Step 2 was not completed before initialization. Select Complete I-9 Step 2.

  4. Complete all necessary components of the employer's Section 2 of the I-9 and select Save.
  5. In the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification section of the Onboarding Employee Details page, select Update Completed I-9 to send the updated I-9 attachment to Vista.

    You will still be able to view previous I-9 attachments in Vista.

    Note: If you navigate away from the Onboarding Details page, you will only be able to view the I-9 and will have to manually add the updated I-9 as an attachment to the employee's record in Vista.
