This release contains year-end regulatory changes for Canada, tax routine changes for Manitoba, and bug fixes that apply to all geographies.

Updates to the Canada T5018 Reports

The following reports were modified to meet CRA 2024 specifications, including minor verbiage changes and updated images and field positions.

Updated T4 Items and Codes

T4 reporting items and codes were updated for tax year 2024. This includes the addition of the following new T4 Box Items and T4 Other Codes.

T4 Box Items
  • 161 / Employee's second CPP contributions (Box 16A)
  • 171 / Employee's second QPP contributions (Box 17A)
  • 271 / Employer's second CPP contributions (Box 27A)

T4 Other Codes
  • 90 / Security options benefits - On or after June 25, 2024
  • 91 / Security options deduction 110(1)(d) - On or after June 25, 2024
  • 92 / Security options deduction 110(1)(d.1) - On or after June 25, 2024
  • 94 / Indian Act (exempt income) - RPP contributions
  • 95 / Indian Act (exempt income) - Union dues

In addition, descriptions were updated for the following T4 Other Codes per CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) specifications:

  • 38 / Security options benefits - Before June 25, 2024
  • 39 / Security options deduction 110(1)(d) - Before June 25, 2024
  • 41 / Security options deduction 110(1)(d.1) - Before June 25, 2024
  • 69 / Indian Act (exempt income) - Non-eligible retiring allowances
  • 71 / Indian Act (exempt income) - Employment
  • 88 / Indian Act (exempt income) - Self-employed

The initialization process for T4 employee records was modified to include, when appropriate, the new T4 Box Items and T4 Other Codes. In addition, the limited earnings amounts used to calculate CPP2 and QPP2 contributions (reported in Box 16A and Box 17A, respectively) are now included in the reportable amount for CPP/QPP pensionable earnings (Box Item 26), along with limited earnings amounts used to calculate legacy CPP and QPP contributions reported in Boxes 16 and 17, respectively.

Updates to the Canada T4 Reports

The following reports were modified to meet CRA 2024 specifications:

PR Canada T4 Slip (ID 1066)
Updates to this report include the following:
  • Minor verbiage changes and updated images.
  • Boxes 16A and 17A (Employee's second CPP and QPP contributions, respectively) are now populated when appropriate.
PR Canada T4 Summary (ID 1062)
Updates to this report include the following:
  • Minor verbiage changes and updated images.
  • Boxes 16A (Employee's second CPP contribution and Box 27A (Employer's second CPP contributions) are now populated when appropriate.
  • An update to Box 80 (Total deductions reported) to include amounts from Box 16A and Box 27A.
PR Canada T4 Slip Review (ID 1063)
Updates to this report include the following:
  • The addition of Box 16A (Employee's second CPP contributions) and Box 17A (Employee's second QPP contributions) to employee slip display. These boxes are populated when applicable, but display as "blank (0)" if the employee's box amount is 0.00 or the box record does not exist for the slip.
  • The addition of boxes 16A and 17A to employee totals. Each field displays a sum of the related box item amount over all slips selected for the employee.
  • The addition of boxes 16A, 17A, and 27A (Employer's second CPP contributions) to the Grand Totals section of the report. Each field displays a sum of the related box item amount over all slips selected for the report.

2025 Tax Update

The following tax routine has changes that require release in a service pack rather than a tax update. If you need this tax update, make sure you install this service pack, as the update will not be included in Vista 2025 Tax Update #1 or any following 2025 tax updates.

Updated Tax Routine for Manitoba (CA only)

Effective Date: 2025/01/01

Procedure Name: bspPR_CA_MBT25

This routine includes changes to the Manitoba basic personal amount (BPAMB) tax credit. Beginning in 2025, the BPAMB will be gradually reduced for individuals with a net income between $200,000 and $400,000. The BPAMB will be reduced to zero for individuals with a net income of $400,000 and above.
