Working with File Attributes

You can view the file attributes in the explorer table, edit file attributes, and search for files based on the file attributes values.

View File Attributes in the Explorer Table

To change the table column content to a File Attributes property, select the dropdown button next to the column header.

You can also sort the table columns.

Filter the Explorer Tab

To filter the current folder's file content based off the File Attributes you can use the filters present above the table.

If some of the attributes are missing from the filters above the table, you can use the All filters button which will open the Filter panel.

Advanced Search

To search for files based on the File Attributes values, select the Advanced Search text in the search header.

You can search by one or all the File Attributes that were defined in the File Attributes template.

Edit File Attributes

Once a template has been published, the File Attributes are added to all your projects and applied to the files stored in Trimble Connect.

To edit file attributes:
  1. Open one of your projects in Trimble Connect for Browser.
  2. Go to the Explorer page.
  3. Select the file you want to edit.
The Details panel opens on the right side. File attributes will be shown at the top of the Details section.
  4. On the Details panel, select Edit shown next to the file or folder name.
The panel will change to Edit mode.
  5. Edit the file attributes.
  6. Select Save.

Add or Edit File Attributes in Bulk

You can bulk add/edit file attributes in bulk.

There are two options:
  • Update attributes for selected files
  • Update attributes for files belonging to folders
Note: Selecting folder(s) will update the attributes for files belonging to the particular folder(s) but not the nested folders.

To list the project's file attributes, selecting Change file metadata from the right panel.

You can then add the metadata to the selected files. If a large number of files are selected, the update might take some time.
