Addins manager in Revit
Not version-specific

Problem:
Users experience conflicts or slow startups in Revit caused by multiple add-ins loading simultaneously, making it difficult to identify and disable the problematic extensions quickly.
Solution:
-
Open the Add-Ins Manager
- In Revit 2025.3 or later, go to Manage Extensions Add-Ins Manager.
- Or launch the standalone tool:
• Press the Windows key, type “Revit Add-Ins Manager,” and select it.
• Or browse to %ProgramFiles%\Autodesk\Revit 2025\AddInsManager\RevitAddInsManager.exe and double-click.

-
Identify Conflicting or Slow Add-Ins
- In the UI, sort by “Last Loading Time” to spot extensions that delay startup.
- Loading time includes DLL load and OnStartup execution. (Source: https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2025.3/ENU/?guid=GUID-RevitAddInsManager)
-
Disable Problematic Add-Ins
- Uncheck individual add-ons or entire groups (manifest files) directly in the Add-Ins Manager.
- For stubborn add-ins that prevent Revit from launching, use the standalone application to disable them.
-
Apply Changes
- Close Revit (if open) and restart. Changes take effect on next launch.
- Settings are stored per Windows user. (Source: https://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2025.3/ENU/?guid=GUID-RevitAddInsManager)
-
(Optional) Organize Add-Ins for Easier Management
- Group multiple commands in one manifest file; the file name appears as the group in the UI.
- Add <Name>, <VendorId>, and <ProductDescription> tags in manifest files for clear naming and tooltips.
