Cloud Hosted - An Authentication Error has Occurred - (Code: 0x80080005)
Issue:
Local machines updating to windows OS version KB5074109 are receiving an error upon attempting to launch an app within the Windows App Hosted connection, giving the error "An Authentication Error has Occurred - (Code: 0x80080005)".
Microsoft pushed a patch that is preventing AVD connections from on premise machines. Please see below for temporary solutions to this issue until Microsoft releases a patch to this latest update that solves the issue permanently.
Workaround until Microsoft releases a patch solving this issue:
1. Install old remote desktop app found at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/remote-desktop-client/connect-windows-cloud-services?tabs=windows-msrdc-msi . Once this is installed, sign in to this Remote Desktop app using your viewpoint.cloud sign in
2. If after performing Step 1 you still have the reported issue, we recommend rolling back update KB5074109 to the previous version.
