Stabicad
Context: The StabiBASE tree structure Every new drawing task in Stabicad starts in StabiBASE, the project explorer. To keep your documents organized and apply the correct settings, the software uses a fixed structure: you first create a Profile, inside it a Project, and within that project, you place your Drawings or documents.
Step 1: Creating a new Profile The profile is the highest level where your projects are placed.
  1. Start StabiBASE.
  2. In the main menu, go to File > New > Profile (or use the arrow next to the 'New' button in the toolbar).
  3. Enter a clear Name in the properties window.
  4. For Location (Path), specify the folder on the hard drive or server where the files should be stored.
  5. Optionally, you can specify whether a backup should be made during phase changes, and if StabiBASE should immediately create a Windows folder on the disk for this profile. Confirm with OK.
Step 2: Creating a new Project Within your profile, you can now create your specific projects.
  1. Select your newly created profile in the project tree with the left mouse button so that it is active.
  2. Go to the menu and select File > New > Project.
  3. Fill in the project details, such as the Name (e.g., the project number or name) and a Description.
  4. Check the initials and date, and confirm with OK. (You can optionally create additional project folders within this project for further organization)
Step 3: Creating a new Drawing Now that the framework is set, you can generate the actual CAD drawing.
  1. Select the active project in the tree structure.
  2. Go to the menu and select File > New > Drawing (for a .dwg file). Note that you can also choose other documents here, such as Word or Excel.
  3. Fill in the specific drawing properties. Important fields are:
    • Name: The filename of your drawing.
    • Description: A brief explanation of the content (e.g., Ground floor).
    • Scale & Paper format: Immediately determine the print scale and format (e.g., 1:50 on A3).
    • Discipline & CAD profile: Link the correct discipline and the Stabicad profile.
  4. Confirm with OK. You can now open the drawing and start designing!
