What is the Electrical Symbol Filter?

The symbol filter allows you to filter a group of electrical symbols based on various properties and batch-edit their data simultaneously. You can create custom filters for specific element types (such as luminaires or socket outlets) or filter by properties like manufacturer or circuit group.

Creating a New Symbol Filter

  1. Open the Power/High-Voltage (Sterk-/krachtstroom) palette.
  2. Navigate to the Modifications (Bewerkingen) tab and launch Change symbol properties (Wijzigen symbooleigenschappen).
  3. Select a group of symbols in the drawing, or type ALL on the command line and press Enter to include all symbols in the current drawing.
  4. Press Enter to confirm your selection. The Symbol Properties window will appear.
  5. Click the Filter (funnel) icon located at the top of the window. The Manage symbol filter dialog will open, displaying any existing filters.
  6. Click the New button on the right side of the window to create a new filter.

Configuring Filter Criteria

In the New filter window, configure your filter settings as follows:

  1. Enter a unique and recognizable name in the Name field.
  2. Select the Filter type:
    • Personal: Available only for your personal use.
    • Shared: Accessible to other drafters working on the same project.
  3. In the first selection field, specify the Category (e.g., "luminaire").
  4. In the second field, select the desired Property.
  5. In the third field, set the condition/operator for how the filter value is applied.
  6. In the final field, enter the value (e.g., a luminaire code or specific property value).
  7. Tip: Click the + button at the end of a row to add additional filter rules to the setup.
  8. Click OK to save the filter.

Applying a Filter

Filters can be applied from two locations:

  • From the Symbol Properties window: Select a filter directly from the drop-down menu (indicated by the downward arrow next to the filter icon).
  • From the Manage symbol filter window: Select the target filter and click the Apply button.

Highlighting Symbols in a Selection

To visually identify and highlight all symbols matching your current selection/filter in the drawing:

  1. Open the Power/High-Voltage palette.
  2. Go to Modifications > Change symbol properties.
  3. Select the symbols or type ALL and press Enter.
  4. Apply your desired symbol filter.
  5. Right-click anywhere inside the Symbol Properties window.
  6. Select Mark symbols (Markeren symbolen) from the context menu.

The symbols corresponding to the active selection and filter will now be highlighted in the drawing view.
