Understanding the MBUTTONPAN Variable

The system variable MBUTTONPAN controls the behavior of the middle mouse button (scroll wheel) when pressed and dragged in AutoCAD and the CAD-platform.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. In the command line, type MBUTTONPAN and press Enter.
  2. Enter the desired value and press Enter:
    • 1 (Default): Enables panning when pressing and dragging the scroll wheel.
    • 0: Reverts to user preferences or CUI/CUIX settings (typically launching the Object Snap / SNAP shortcut menu when the scroll wheel is clicked).

Tip: To ensure smooth panning across drawings, always set MBUTTONPAN to 1.
