How to: Hide underlying walls while keeping MEP installations visible (View Range)
Not version-specific
Stabicad
Issue When you extend the bottom of your View Range to make mechanical installations on the floor below visible, Revit also displays the architectural walls of that underlying floor. This clutters your drawing and makes it difficult to focus purely on the MEP elements.
Cause By default, if the View Discipline is set to Architectural or Coordination, the View Range dictates that all physical elements (including architectural walls) within that extended depth are fully visible.
Solution To show the MEP installation clearly without the visual clutter of the underlying walls, you need to adjust the specific View Properties.
- Open the specific Floor Plan view where you want to adjust the visibility.
- Go to the Properties panel on the side of your screen.
- Scroll down to the Discipline parameter and change it to Mechanical. (Note: Setting this to Mechanical ensures that architectural elements are set to halftone, and MEP elements take priority and show through).
- Locate the Show Hidden Lines parameter and set the display to Hidden.
- Click Apply. The underlying walls will no longer obstruct your view, while the mechanical installation remains clearly visible.
