How to: Pre-register a new user in the Stabicad database (StabiBASE)

Context
When a new colleague joins, you assign them a Named User license via the Trimble Admin Console. However, when this user starts Stabicad for the first time, the software checks if their profile exists in the local Stabicad database. If the user is not yet added, older versions (prior to 26.02) require an administrator to log in locally with the default credentials (qqq / abcde) to authorize the user. Newer versions will prompt the user to manually enter their future initials. To prevent this friction and ensure a seamless start, it is best practice for administrators to add the user to the local database before their first login.
Steps: Pre-registering the user

  1. Start Stabicad and sign in with an administrator account.
  2. In StabiBASE, go to the Tools menu and select User manager.
  3. Go to the Users tab.
  4. Right-click in the empty space and select New user (or press Ctrl+N).
  5. On the General tab, enter the user's details, such as their Trimble Identity email, Initials, and Username.
  6. Switch to the Groups tab and click Add....
  7. Select the appropriate permission group for this user (e.g., Modelers or Key-Users) and click OK.
  8. Click OK again to save the new user profile.
Your new colleague is now fully set up in both the cloud and the local database and can start working immediately without any interruptions!

Please note that when you have a new (empty) database, the first person that logs in will become an admin for that database:

Fill in your initials to be used in Stabibase, not the email address.

After this screen you should see an active Stabibase dialog:
