Rotating the View Display Alignment

To rotate your view display and crosshairs relative to an angled line without rotating the underlying drawing geometry, follow these steps:

  1. In the command line, type UCS and press Enter.
  2. Type OB (for AutoCAD) or E (for CAD-platform / IntelliCAD) and press Enter to select by Object/Entity.
  3. Select the angled line you wish to align your view with (ensure the selected object is not part of a block).
  4. Type PLAN and press Enter.
  5. Type C (for Current UCS) and press Enter.

Tip: The view display is now aligned with the chosen object while the drawing coordinates remain intact. This technique is particularly effective inside layout viewports, as each viewport can maintain its own independent UCS orientation.

Resetting the View to Default (World Orientation)

To restore the original top-down view display and coordinate orientation, follow these steps:

  1. In the command line, type UCS and press Enter.
  2. Type W (for World) and press Enter.
  3. Type PLAN and press Enter.
  4. Type W (for World) and press Enter.
