How to: Transition to the Named User license model in Stabicad
Not version-specific
Stabicad
Context: The new license model Trimble is transitioning to the Named User license model. Your access is verified via your login credentials in the web browser, instead of a local license file. Because Stabicad stores project data in an SQL database, your system might still hold onto the old method. Choose the scenario that applies to you.
Summary for Teachers (License Administrators): The student must have been assigned a license in the Trimble Admin Console, and must be logged into their default web browser with that specific email address.
Scenario A: Clean Installation (New PC or laptop)
- Download and install Stabicad. Start the program; the Activation Wizard will appear automatically.
- Log in with your Trimble ID (the email address assigned to your license) and select your school or company.
- Link initials: After activation, StabiBASE will ask you to log in to link your email address to your drafting initials. Use the default login name
QQQwith the passwordabcde.
Scenario B: Migration (Old license is still working) Your SQL database still 'thinks' in the old license method and needs to be converted manually.
- Start Stabicad and log in with your existing (old) credentials.
- In the top pull-down menu, go to Tools > License details and start the Activation wizard.
- Log in with your new Trimble ID.
- Link initials: Use your old initials/password, or the default
QQQwithabcdeif you have forgotten them.
Scenario C: Error (Old license blocks startup) Messages like "License expired (C800100D)" or "License number does not match".
- You cannot perform Scenario B because StabiBASE is blocked by a lingering local license file.
- Manually delete the old
.slffile from your Windows folders (search the helpdesk for Error C800100D for the exact folder location). - Restart Stabicad; the new web-based verification (Scenario A) will now initiate.
