How to: Where and how should I install the Stabicad Revit Families (.rfa)?
Not version-specific
Stabicad
ontext: Stabicad offers the Revit families as a separate download alongside the main software installation file. The correct version of these family files (corresponding to your Revit and Stabicad version) must be placed manually in the appropriate folder after installation.
Workflow: Downloading and placing families
- Download the required families from the portal (
https://download.trimble.com/). - Extract the ZIP file.
- Determine whether you have a local installation or a network installation and move the files to the correct folder:
Location A: Local Installation The default location where the families must be placed is:
C:\Program Files\Trimble\Stabicad NL\Families When this folder is set up correctly, there will be a subfolder for each Revit version (for example, folders named 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026). The actual .rfa files are located inside these subfolders. Important: The main 'Families' folder also contains the configuration file StabiCADTabs.xml. You must leave this file where it is!Location B: Network Installation In this case, the default folder for the families is located on your server. Navigate to the network location where the central installation of Stabicad is hosted. Tip: A quick way to get there is to right-click your Stabicad desktop shortcut and select 'Open file location'. Then, go up one folder level; there you will find the
Families folder where you need to place the files. Here too: leave the StabiCADTabs.xml file intact.
