Insulation or Center Line remains after deleting an element
Not version-specific
Because of a Revit bug it occurs in some cases that Insulation remains after an element is deleted. If this is immediately observed the action should be undone and first the Insulation should be removed before deleting the element. The orphaned insulation has a family and type, but not a system type, if undo is not an option at a later stage the following steps can be taken to correct the problem.
Stabicad
- Activate the Revit project with the orphaned element(s)
- Create a Pipe Insulation Schedule:
- View > Schedule/Quantities > New Schedule/Quantities
- Select category Pipe Insulation - In the tab ‘Fields’, add:
- Family and Type
- System Type
- Count - In the tab ‘Sorting and Grouping’:
- Sort by System Type
- Then by Family and Type
Deselect ‘Itemize every instance’ - In the tab ‘Formatting’:
- Click Count
- Select ‘Calculate Totals’ - Click [OK]
(The Schedule will be shown) - Select a line without a system type in the schedule and remember the instance Count.
- Click ‘Highlight in Model’ (in the ribbon)
- Verify in the instance properties if pipe insulation is selected and the Count matches step 7.
- Press ‘Delete’ to remove the orphaned insulation.
- Repeat steps 7 to 10 for all line in the schedule without a pipe type.
