Revit 2024 Crashes on Startup After Stabicad Update

Problem:

Revit 2024 closes immediately after opening because the TrimbleConnectForRevit add-in installed by the Stabicad 25.05 updater is not compatible with Revit 2024.

Solution:

Choose one of the following approaches based on whether you use the Trimble Connect integration:

  1. If you do NOT upload models to Trimble Connect: a. Close Revit.
    b. Navigate to:
    %ProgramData%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2024
    c. Locate TrimbleConnectForRevit.addin (and any associated files) and either:

    • Rename them (e.g., append “.disabled”)
    • Or delete them permanently
      d. Restart Revit to confirm it no longer crashes.
      e. Alternatively, open Windows Settings > Apps, search for “Trimble Connect for Revit” and uninstall via the standard remove apps interface.
  2. If you DO upload models to Trimble Connect: a. First remove the incompatible version as described above.
    b. Download the latest compatible TrimbleConnectForRevit add-in from the official Trimble store:
    https://web.connect.trimble.com/store
    c. Run the installer and follow on-screen instructions.
    d. Launch Revit 2024 to verify the add-in loads without causing crashes.
