  • Voltage Types

  • Wire Types (Optional Item to copy) - Include this in your selection if you wish to utilise the Stabicad provided Revit wire types (see below).

Only applicable for Stabicad for Electrical Engineers license holders - Note that these Revit wire types are pre-mapped to Stabicad Cable Types within the Stabicad template. User created Revit wire types will require manual mapping to their respective Stabicad Cable Types.

  1. Click ok to confirm the items to be transferred. A message will be displayed advising of duplicate types. Click OK to confirm:

  1. A second dialogue regarding duplicate types will be displayed with the option of Overwrite or New Only. Overwrite shall only be selected where existing information is not required to be retained. New Only will supplement existing information within the customers template. In this instance, duplicate items sharing the same name will not be updated and may lead to operational issues.

Note 1 - To utilise the StabiTOOLS create plan function (auto create views with auto-assigned view templates), add the S4R_prefix to your existing view template names or utilise the S4R view templates.

  1. Recommended to delete all generic Revit elements to avoid conflicts with generic Stabicad elements.

  1. Cable Tray with Fittings - keep all S4Rx_

  1. Cable Tray without Fittings - keep all S4Rx_

  1. Duct Systems - keep all S4Rx_

  1. Ducts > Rectangular Duct - keep all S4Rx_

  1. Ducts > Round Duct - keep all S4Rx_

  1. Flex Ducts > Flex Duct Rectangular and Flex Duct Round - keep all S4Rx_

  1. Flex Pipes - keep all S4Rx_

  1. Pipes & Piping Systems - keep all S4Rx_

3. Test the functionality by using Stabicad’s equipment selector and drawing a Duct, Pipe and Cable Tray.

Mechanical Calculations

  1. Modeling & calculating ventilation

In short: If you use Stabicad’s product lines and specify the Duct types you want to use in StabiBASE, calculation will work fine.

Details:

Use Stabicad’s element selector and choose a Duct Type & a Product Line from the drop down menus. Then select a Type and diameter and wait for Stabicad to load in everything. If the generic types of step 1 of the Initial actions have been imported there should be no warning and the user should be able to draw a system.

There are some default Duct types available. These are coming from StabiBASE and therefore are not present in the template. In case the user wants to make use of custom Duct Types, specify them in StabiBASE:

When pressing New, be sure to pick an existing corresponding type so that the System Classification in Revit will be correct.

After creating the type, it shows up immediately in Revit, no need to restart, you can draw directly with it.

Calculation is supported with both custom and default types. The system classification of the duct determines what is being displayed in the calculation report at System Type. These system types are hard coded and cannot be altered by the user. Custom types are not supported here:

  1. Modeling & calculating tap water

In short: Import Pipe System Types and Pipe Types from the Stabicad template and you’re good to go.

Details:

You need to make sure all the Stabicad system types are imported and the Revit ones are removed. Else you will get warnings like this:

Using the transfer project standards option in Revit, make sure the following system types are imported:

And be sure to remove these ones if present (from a default Revit template):

Use Stabicad’s element selector and choose a Pipe Type & a Product Line from the drop down menus. Then select a Type and diameter and wait for Stabicad to load in everything. If the generic types of step 1 have been imported there should be no warning and the user should be able to draw a system.

For cold water use Mains Cold Water or Boosted Cold Water. For the hot water supply side use Domestic Hot Water or use Domestic Hot Water Flow. For the circulation return side use Domestic Hot Water Return.

When creating your own system types, make sure to create them in StabiBASE and copy them from one of the aforementioned systems. E.g. if you want to make a new hot water return system type then be sure to use Domestic Hot Water Return as a template in StabiBASE:

After it has been created you can modify it via the Edit Preferences button:

As long as the system was originally created via a copy of a default system type that is supported in the calculation, you can create custom names and codes.

  1. Modeling & calculating heating & cooling

In short: Import Pipe System Types and Pipe Types from the Stabicad template and you’re good to go.

Details:

See 2. On details for importing and removing Pipe System Types.

Use Stabicad’s element selector and choose a Pipe Type & a Product Line from the drop down menus. Then select a Type and diameter and wait for Stabicad to load in everything. If the generic types of step 1 have been imported there should be no warning and the user should be able to draw a system.

For the flow side use Low Temperature Hot Water Flow System Type and for return use Low Temperature Hot Water Return System Type. When creating custom types, also use these as a template.

Don’t use Low Temperature Hot Water.

  1. Modeling & calculating waste water

For the waste side use: Grey Water, Grey Water Pipe, Rain Water Pipe, Recycled Cold Water or Soil Vent Pipe

For the aeration use: Vent pipe

When creating custom types, also use these as a template.

Mechanical features

Mechanical diagram

When using a mechanical diagram, the systems are colored based on system type. Additional to that the pipes/ducts from the model can be linked to the lines in the diagram.

To have the correct visualization of the linked elements, it’s recommended that the view template: [S4RM5SD_System Type Colors] is imported from a Stabicad project. It can be easily done in StabiBASE Manage - Transfer project standards and load the mentioned view template in the project.

Electrical Calculations

Once the previous steps have been completed for importing the required elements from the Stabicad template into the Non-Stabicad template then proceed with the following steps:

  1. Only applicable for Stabicad for Electrical Engineers license holders -  Test the functionality by:

    1. Saving the file and registering the file in StabiBASE.

    2. Building a small electrical network:

      1. Place a distribution board and provide a panel name:

  1. Place socket outlet and link to distribution board:

  1. Define distribution board as the supply (Go to Stabicad Electrical Ribbon, Click Edit Supplies and then the plus icon. Click OK):

  1. Run both the electrical and circuit management calculations to introduce additional Stabicad parameters to the template:

Note that any calculation related errors or warnings such as the below examples can be dismissed:

Final Actions

Ensure the file is saved with the prefix of TempRevit_20xx_

(replace ‘xx” with appropriate year) and located within your designated custom folder location.
