Troubleshooting: Resolving 'MOD_COMMON' error messages (License_Location & License_Using_TID)
Not version-specific
Stabicad
Context: What is MOD_COMMON? The
MOD_COMMON error is a general message that occurs when StabiBASE or Stabicad cannot load a specific setting from the database. The solution depends on the exact error code. Look closely at the text behind MOD_COMMON/ in your error message and follow the corresponding scenario below.Scenario A: Error message ends with 'License_Using_TID' This problem is related to the Trimble Identity (TID) authentication. Upon startup, StabiBASE checks your default web browser to retrieve the necessary login cookies. If this data is corrupted or outdated, the application will crash.
- Completely close AutoCAD, Revit, and StabiBASE.
- Open your default web browser (e.g., Chrome or Edge) and specifically clear the Trimble cookies.
- Restart Stabicad. Normally, this should be sufficient. If the email address does not have a valid license assigned, the software will now properly offer the option to 'Switch user' ("Van gebruiker wisselen"), after which the Trimble login screen will appear.
- Persistent issue? Sometimes stubborn login data remains stored locally. Using Windows Explorer, search for the files
token.cache(used untill version 25.9) orstabi_persistent_storage.configand rename or delete them. (Note: the stabi_persistent_storage.config file is deeply nested in randomly named folders under %LocalAppData%\IsolatedStorage).
Scenario B: Error message ends with 'LICENSE_LOCATION' This variant is often related to your environment or software version. Check the following causes:
- Version bug (Stabicad 26.04): There is a known bug in version 26.04 that causes this message. Install the provided patch for 26.04 or update directly to version 26.05 or higher, where this has been resolved.
- Windows Language Settings: Stabicad may crash on unrecognized characters if the Windows language is not set to English or Dutch (for example, when it is set to Turkish). Set the general Windows language setting to English (USA) or Dutch and restart the PC.
- Fast double-clicking: The message can simply appear if you try to start Stabicad twice very quickly in succession while the background process of a previous session has not yet fully closed.
Scenario C: Persistent database and permission issues (For IT) If the steps above do not resolve the error, check the database and folder permissions:
- Ensure the user has the correct Windows write permissions for the
drivers.config.xmlconfiguration file located in the Stabicad\Configfolder. - In SQL Server Management Studio, ensure the SQL user is granted
DB_Writer,DB_Reader, andEXECUTEpermissions, and that the default schema is set toDBO.
