Create a Spectrum Connection Using Basic Authentication

If your Spectrum instance uses Basic Authentication, follow these steps to connect it in App Xchange.

You must prepare your Spectrum environment and configure your Spectrum Web Services before completing these steps.
  1. Create the new connection in App Xchange using the following values.
    1. Open the Connectivity page, then select Add Connection under Spectrum.
    2. Connection definition: Select Deconstructed Enhanced Authentication.
Deconstructed Enhanced Authentication simplifies configuration and is strongly preferred. Only use the non-deconstructed Enhanced Authentication for Legacy Configuration.
    3. Connection name: Enter a descriptive name for the connection.
  2. Create the Base Connection Details using the following values.
    • Api Root Url: Enter the fully-qualified base URL for the Spectrum site with the port included. For example, https://trimble.dexterchaney.com:8482.

    • Data Exchange Authorization Id: If your workspace contains a flow that brings data into Spectrum, enter the appropriate Authorization ID in the field.

This is found in Spectrum by navigating to System Administration > Installation > Data Exchange.

    • Data Source: Enter the Spectrum server URL. For example, xyz-data.dexterchaney.com
    • Initial Catalog: Enter the database name provided by Spectrum. For example, Spectrum
    • User ID: Enter [Company Code+Info-Link username], using the Info-Link username you created for the Prepare a Spectrum Cloud Environment or Prepare a Spectrum On-Prem Environment task. For example, XYZXChangeProcore
    • Password: Enter the password created for the Info-Link user you created for the Prepare a Spectrum Cloud Environment or Prepare a Spectrum On-Prem Environment task.
    • Additional Parameters: Leave this field blank unless you are otherwise advised by your integration provider.
  3. Configure the Spectrum companies. Repeat these steps for each Spectrum company you are connecting.
    1. In the Company Configurations section, select Add Item.
    2. In the Company Code field, enter the company's three-digit code.
This is found in each Spectrum company by navigating to System Administration > Installation > Enterprise > Company then selecting the Company tab. This code can be alphabetical, numeric, or both. For example, ABC, 101, or TS2.
  4. Select Create.
The connector is connected.
Your connection is automatically tested if created in the drawer in a workspace, otherwise select Test Connection. You can further confirm credentials by running a cache writer service in the jobs page, or even a test flow to write to the target system with a connector action.
Note: Testing your connection only validates that you can read from the target product and, in the case of on-prem connectors, that your App Xchange-hjelp is online.
